Netflix Gets Bright
We recently brought you information about the new project featuring Will Smith and director David Ayer (read about it here). Now it has been confirmed that Netflix have signed on for the movie, called ‘Bright’, and giving it a $90 million budget.
‘Bright’ is a fantasy cop thriller in a fictional world where humans live alongside many fantasy based creatures and beasts including orcs. What we know about the plot is that an orc cop and a human cop team together to search for a mystical wand that can cause devastating damage in the wrong hands.
Joel Edgerton will co-star with Smith what will be Netflix’s biggest and most expensive production to date. The script, wrote by Max Landis (American Ultra, Chronicle) will pocket him a nice $3 million, the most that has been paid for a script in a long time.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the movie once complete. Whether ‘Bright’ will be released in cinemas or go straight to the Netflix streaming service. If the movie goes straight to streaming it could be an excellent pull to get in new subscribers with this exclusive movie.
The movie is scheduled to start filming in the fall.
