Beauty and the Beast – Unpopped Review
Beauty and the Beast is the best live action remake to come out of Disney yet! If you love the original, you’ll most likely love this!

This week we cover one of the most anticipated yet perhaps unnecessary reboots of 2017. So please, be my guest as I see if there may be something there that wasn’t there before in the live action version of this tale as old as time, Beauty and the Beast.
For all 3 of you out there that don’t know the plot of Beauty and the Beast, I’ll go ahead and explain it real quick. A beautiful young woman becomes trapped in a magical castle by a terrifying beast who is actually a prince whose appearance has been altered.
The Good:
The Entire Cast. Emma Watson as Belle, Luke Evans as Gaston, and Josh Gad as LeFou are all fantastic. They are actual living embodiments of their cartoon counterparts. On top of that Dan Stevens as the Beast, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts all do fantastic voicing their respective characters. It was amazing to see these iconic characters coming to life and moving about 3D space rather than simply as cartoon characters.
The Story. There’s honestly not much to say about this. They didn’t change the story that much. If you love the original cartoon; there’s a pretty good chance you’ll like this. If for some reason you don’t like this, then there is absolutely nothing they could have done to make you like it because they remade the movie almost exactly the same just in live action.
The Music. Now the Jungle Book used the original music very loosely in the film adaptation. Beauty and The Beast does the exact opposite. This is a full blown musical. It has all the same music as before sung by these actors. The only possible problem is that since it’s not the original voices, the songs sound a little different, not bad just different. But it is really fun to see these musical numbers done in such a large scale on the big screen. There’s just something wondrous and magical about it. This version also features a few new songs. I don’t remember exactly how many, maybe 3. None of them are as good as the originals, but they’re not bad either. There is one that the Beast sang that I kind of enjoyed.
Recommendation:
You know… I could go on and on about why this movie is great, but honestly all I have to say is that it is the best direct remake of any movie. I don’t know if it’s better than the original, but I definitely wouldn’t fight anyone who says that they like it more. So because of the magnificent job that they did, I’d say that Beauty and The Beast is worthy to see in theaters and the buy on Blu-Ray and I’d give it a 4.5 out of 5.
