Wiig Replaces Witherspoon In Downsizing
Downsizing has been in the works for quite some time with Reese Witherspoon being attached from the start, reuniting her with director Alexander Payne, who she previously teamed with to high acclaim in the 1999 comedy drama ‘Election’.
However, due to a scheduling problem Reese Witherspoon has had to drop out of the project and is being replaced by Kristen Wiig.
This will be a blow to Witherspoon who has seemed keen to work with Payne again. Wiig, who will soon be hitting our screens in the Gohstbusters reboot will be more than capable of filling the shoes of Witherspoon.
The script for ‘Downsizing’ is definitely an interesting one. Written alongside Jim Taylor, who he previously worked with on ‘Sideways’, the story looks at people who are low on money and go through a procedure to shrink themselves in order to save money. This bizarre story should be an entertaining one if Payne and Taylor are anything to go by.
