Transformers Franchise Building a Universe
The Transformers movie franchise is getting ready to go into production for its fifth installment this summer and it could be the Transformers movie that Michael Bay directs. That won’t stop the series from slowing down any time soon as plans are already in the works for a Bumblebee spin-off movie coming 2018 and Transformers 6 scheduled for release 2019.
With Transformers 5 being released 2017, that makes it three movies in three years, so expect a whole lot of Autobots and Decepticons in toy stores over the next few years.
Transfomers movies are not cheap to make with the last movie, Age of Extinction, costing $210 million. However, Paramount have pulled in over $3.7 billion over the course of the series so for so it seems like the are looking to make the most of this financially rewarding franchise.
This latest entry into the the Transformers universe will be getting a helping hand from Detroit inn the shape of an incentive payment to film in the city, a agreement that was put in place before the Michigan state legislature stopped incentives for filming in the state.
Transformers 5 will be filed in Detroit and London.
