TOLKIEN explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.
I’m really loving the look of the WWI scenes, and how they seem to transform into his Middle Earth mythology. I also can’t wait to see his own Fellowship of friends. I’m also eager to hear about how Tolkien’s estate played a part in the making of this film, for authenticity’s sake. Tolkien arrives in theaters May 10, 2019
