The Thomas Crown Affair first hit our screens in 1968 starring Steve McQueen as Thomas Crown, the millionaire businessman and sportsman who pulls off the perfect crime, only to meet his match in the form of a independent insurance investigator played by Faye Dunaway. The movie was nominated for two Academy Awards.

The second Thomas Crown Affair appeared in 1999, over thirty years after the original. This outing starred Pierce Brosnan as Thomas Crown, a millionaire financier who also moonlights as an international art thief. After planning a robbery at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he uses this as a distraction so he is able to steal a painting himself. This time Rene Russo plays the insurance investigator out to stop him.

Now, less than 17 years after the remake, MGM are planning on creating another Thomas Crown Affair and have signed Michael B. Jordan to star. Jordan is still riding the massive wave he created with his Rocky spin-off movie, Creed, and it looks like MGM are looking to cash in on it.

There is no writer or director attached to the movie yet, so this is still only in the very early stages, but it will be interesting to see whether the script will make use of either of the previous incarnations or go for a completely new take?
