The Blue Bed Trailer
The Blue Bed is about Zahra, a middle-aged woman who visits a temporary marriage agency and signs up to get a young working girl. She picks her up to take her home, but the girl (Negar) who has never had a female client, becomes suspicious of Zahra’s intent and sexual orientation.
Writer and director Alireza Kazemipour is a n Iranian screenwriter, director and producer. In the last 20 years he has collaborated in more than 22 TV series, 3 feature films and 14 teleplays as a creator, head writer, writer or co-writer receiving national recognition and awards.
Alireza told us “In Iran, it is forbidden to engage in a sexual relationship outside of marriage. The sex trade is also illegal and the offenders are arrested and punished unless the trade is done through Sharia as permanent or temporary marriages. Therefore, sexual satisfaction among the young generation who are not able to marry due to financial and social issues is a serious problem. But this problem is even worse for autistic people, wheelchair-bound disabled patients or people with spinal cord injuries. Their sexual desires are completely ignored or suppressed through hormone therapy and/or medication. According to popular belief, these people are considered asexual. What I attempted to show in this film is the efforts of a mother to resolve her autistic son’s sexual problems in a strict religious way. Zahra is a mother who believes that suppressing sexual desire through hormone therapy and medication is not the best way to deal with this issue. She wants her son to experience a healthy relationship with a woman instead of masturbation.”
Anahita Eghbalnejad, who plays The Mother in The Blue Bed, is a very selective actress and considered one of the best actresses in Iranian theater and indie movies. She is also a theater director and acting instructor.
The music in the film is composed by Mehran Mirmiri, a very talented musician and composer. Recently he has been in the Berlin Film Festival as the only Iranian composer for his other work ‘Mosul 980’, which was later selected to be qualified for the Oscar Academy Awards.
