Running in the Name of Film
A young filmmaker will be running across America from South Carolina to California in hopes to raise $500,000 for his film company (Black Forest Films). Adrian Jackson wants to raise awareness for the need of film in the Carolinas. Running an average of 25-30 miles a day, he expects the run to take about 3 months to complete. During the three months Adrian will be filming a documentary to record his experiences along the way.
Adrian has been filming since 2007 and this art form has grown into his passion. He graduated from The Art Institute Of Charlotte for film and video production in December 2014. Now after graduating, everything he does is dedicated to fulfilling his filmmaking dreams. Before there was film, the only passion in my life was running. Adrian has decided to combine the two passions in his life to help highlight the importance of film not only to himself, but to everyone else through the resulting documentary of his journey.
Adrian realizes that there are 1 million other filmmakers in the world creating films just like him, but at some point there needs to be some sort of separation between him and the others so his films can gain that next level of exposure and reach the audience it was made for. He views this run as a stepping stone into that next level. Adrian has stated that, “There is something special in Carolina film. We have our own style, our own culture, and our own way of doing things that is constantly being over looked. What if an Oscar nominated films was being filmed in the Carolinas consistently? What if actors here didn’t always have to scrap up what money they have to go to Atlanta, New York, or Hollywood to catch their next big break? What if the million dollar budgets for these major films were being spent in our area? Implementing these changes can do something beautiful and amazing for our area and if I have to run across America to turn a few heads and get people looking our way I will.”
The run will start April 1st at Main Street Fort Mill, SC and continue through Rock Hill and York, SC then Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, Memphis, TN, Conway, AK, Oklahoma City, OK, Amarillo, TX, Albuquerque, NM, Flagstaff, AR and end in LA, California in June.
In order to complete the run Adrian is looking to raise $500,000 on GoFundMe. THe money will be used to finance the run, the resulting documentary an other independent films in the area.
