Neil Gaiman’s Sandman Movie Loses its Star
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has confirmed that he has left production of Neil Gaiman’s ‘Sandman’ movie citing differences between the studio, New Line, about what makes the graphic great. Gordon-Levitt his withdrawl from the project himself on Facebook.
This will come as a massive blow to fans of DC’s Vertigo graphic novel series as Joseph Gordon-Levitt was a massive fan of the books and had been instrumental in pushing the movie forward. Not only was he set to star in the movie but was also going to be directing and producing it.
Neil Gaiman, David Goyer, and screenwriter Jack Thorne had been working with Joseph Gordon-Levitt on the project which had fans excited about what the movie could have been. It looks like the movie has taken one step forward and four steps back since New Line took charge. We will have to see what happens next with this project or if it will drop back into development hell.
Lets hope that whatever happens, the movie stays true to its source material and we get a true adaption of Sandman.
