Narcos – Season 1 Video Review
With season 2 of Narcos to be released in less than a week. What better way to refresh on the series than revisiting the explosive first season?
Narcos tells the story of the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar, however do not be fooled, the show studies relationships surrounding the manhunt of Escobar, on both sides of the law, and how one substance destroyed so many people’s lives without even coming into contact with it.
Leary of watching this show? Thinking it might be Breaking Bad lite? Couldn’t be farther from the truth readers.
How does it differ? Well that would require me to delve into spoilers.
So let’s just differentiate our antagonists.
Walter White produces and sells his own addictive substance of meth. Pablo Escobar just smuggled it. So that’s a reason of interest and differentiation for people skeptical of this show. Another great thing about this show is the learning factor, for those unfamiliar with the story of Pablo Escobar, this serves as the most entertaining and explosive history lesson of Colombia in the mid 70’s and 80’s.
The man was the cause and center of the biggest manhunt ever.
There’s so much to be enjoyed in Narcos, but the action is the centerpiece of this show. The vast variety of locations and types of action that exist in the show keep it fresh. We see everything from raids, to a plane crash to a helicopter chase as well.
The line between TV and Movies blurs farther by the release of every new show worth watching. It’s harder to find a difference anymore, if anything movies have become weaker and TV is taking it’s rightful place when it comes to the art aspect of filmmaking.
TV gets relegated far too much, and it’s time consumers stay home more and appreciate art instead of commercialism.
