Mystery Has a Name – Short Drama Review

What’s it All About
Mystery Has a Name – Gabriella is a paralegal, who wants to become a full-fledged attorney. However, she has become a bit of a socialite as of late, and has pushed her career advancement aspirations to the back burner. Always one for risk-taking and excitement, Gabriella tests her socializing skill set by taking a dare by her friends to sneak into a party of an extremely wealthy real estate tycoon in order to capture his attention and affection.

My Opinion
It’s always fun to see what someone else can get away with (especially if you’re not the risk taker), and how far a plan can be taken, without anyone getting hurt, of course. Unfortunately, Gabriella gets a little to entrenched in her scheme, and is too successful. When her friends want her to bail, trying to persuade her that her charade is complete, she is already entranced and unsure of how she could undo what she’d already done anyway.
Mystery Has a Name did a great job demonstrating that taking things too far in matters of the heart can be a huge letdown when not authentic, and can have disastrous consequences when the truth finally comes out. Especially in today’s world of social media, coupled with crossing someone of much higher influence than your own.

The Verdict
Being yourself is always the way to go. They may say fake it ’til you make it, but if you’re not pursuing an authentic goal that aligns with your higher self, you’ll never make it anyway. No matter how many times or in how many ways the story gets told, it’s always the same, and this film was a great example of not only the principle of being a person of integrity, but also what the unintended consequences can be if you get in over your head.
