Lethal Weapon to Get a TV Pilot
Over the last ten years we have seen numerous TV shows get movie remakes. The likes of Dukes of Hazzard, The A-Team, Miami Vice, Starsky & Hutch and 21 Jump Street immediately spring to mind all having various amounts of success and now it seems like movies are getting the same treatment. Twelve Monkeys, Ash vs The Evil Dead and Limitless are recent movies getting their own series and it looks like Lethal Weapon is about to join them.
Yes, we are a movie website and don’t normally comment on tv shows, but because the Lethal Weapon franchise is a great set of movies and a pioneer in the buddy cop genre we thought it was important to talk about.
From what we know, Damon Wayans will be playing Roger Murtaugh (originally played by Danny Glover) and Martin Riggs is yet to be cast. The pilot has been written by Matt Miller and looks set to be directed by McG. The pilot will be roughly based on the original movie.
The magical formula between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover is what helped to make the film series so great, lets just hope the new generation can recapture the magic of the crazy former Navy Seal Texas cop and his partner who is simply too old for this!
This is just one in a growing line of movies getting their own tv show including Taken, Rush Hour and Training Day.
