THE INVASION IS COMING – CIFF Announces Full Film Lineup as Box Office Opens for Business

THEINVASIONISCOMING - CIFF

After several waves of film announcements over the last month, the Calgary International Film Festival announced the full lineup today at the Festival Box Office in Eau Claire Market.

In total, 210 films will be screened at this year’s festival: 100 features and 110 shorts. The 72-page Program Guide, hot off the press, is chock full of film synopses, festival information, and of course, the much-anticipated screening schedule. Those details, as well as the latest CIFF news, can all be found at calgaryfilm.com.

“The Calgary International Film Festival is getting better and better, and growing on so many different levels,” said Steve Schroeder, Executive Director, Calgary International Film Festival. “Last year, CIFF set an all-time box office and attendance record with 35,000 fans attending the 12-day festival. This year, we will continue to expand the excitement with a tremendous array of films, galas, filmmakers and special guests in attendance, along with our new Behind the Screen series.”

The final wave of films announced today includes several of the hottest films to hit the festival circuit this year, such as the Alberta-shot BURN YOUR MAPS, Asghar Farhadi’s THE SALESMAN, Pedro Almodóvar’s JULIETA, the American indie AND PUNCHING THE CLOWN and Jim Jarmusch’s PATERSON.

Schroeder officially opened the Box Office in a film-ribbon-cutting flourish. Individual tickets for all films are now on sale, as well as gala tickets, ticket packages and festival passes. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.calgaryfilm.com.

This year, for the first time ever, CIFF is hosting a free, CIFF’s first-ever Trailer Party to give audiences a taste of what will be screening at this year’s festival. Film fans are invited to the Globe Cinema on Friday, September 9 from 4pm-7pm to watch film trailers, mingle in the lobby, enjoy complimentary free popcorn and other surprises. This licensed event is 18+, free and open to the public. The first 100 people in attendance will receive a festival survival kit.

The 2016 Calgary International Film Festival begins on Wednesday, September 21 and runs until October 2.
