An Interview with Actor Nancy Rizk
Australian actress Nancy Rizk has started filming ‘She’s Not So Ordinary’, based on the popular young adult novel. She plays Hell Vixen Katie in the supernatural spookfest, due out next year. We managed to squeeze in a five minute chat with Nancy around her extremely busy schedule.
Hi Nancy, thanks for taking time out to speak to us, we know you are very busy.
Congratulations on the film! How did it come about?
Thank you so much. I came across the casting and went for it. I loved the character Katie and wanted to blow the audition out of the park.
You must have done a superb audition.
Why do you think film adaptations of young adult novels are all the rage right now?
I believe when it comes from a novel or a series of novels it has bigger range of juiciness to the roles. They are the rage because novels are so in depth and as readers we get to know these characters by using our imagination and falling in love with every detail there is. Once the films are released all those who have read the novels understand the concept more and the backstory which makes it more personal.
Had you read the ‘Chosen’ series yourself?
I am actually finishing another trilogy series so once i am done with that i can sink my teeth into the ‘Chosen’ series. I am so excited to get reading.
Tell us about your character.
Katie is sexy and sassy. No one and I mean no one can resist Katie. She is a Hell Vixen who can have and get anyone she wants. She lives between the old and new world. She is there to help Laura succumb to her real self. What is better then having a best friend who is also the one who is pushing you to the dark side without even realising.
She sound slike a very interesting character.
Can you talk about your look in the movie – does it require lavish costumes? What can we expect?
When it comes to the old world Katie is dark but sexy, long robes and corsets. Thats all I can say for now. But the costumes are brilliant.
Can you tell us about some of your co-stars?
Working with a great friend Maria Tevelis who plays Laura is always fun. Katie and Laura have such a great friendship on screen and after meeting and spending time with Maria I can honestly say I will always have her back always and love her dearly. I also get to work with another great friend Albert Goikhman who is such an amazing actor and plays Solomon in the series. He has such a great energy about him and is very contagious. The list goes on and on however I am very blessed to be working with such amazing and talented artists.

Have doors opened for you as a result of being in “She’s Not so Ordinary”?
No matter what project you do doors will always open up. We are still in the filming process so only time will tell.
