Go Chase Yourself (2021) Film Review
Sometimes intentions are simply magnetic. COVID circumstances were devastating for the film industry, let alone for the smaller productions. But what do you do when you can’t help but give some shape to your idea?
Go Chase Yourself is an experiment of a film that carries plenty of spirit. It’s an undeniable indie effort that falls short in the technical quality department, and could use some post production budget. But nothing about the film seems like a plastic requirement. It shows personal drive by an amateur team that decided to shoot a whole film during the most difficult times we’ve experienced in the last century. How’s that for guts?
Go Chase Yourself has a romantic subplot, lots of folklore winks that inject the film with some supernatural elements, and bits of action that could require some editing. It’s far from perfect, but some films don’t aim for greatness. They’re trials that must be observed. Objectively or subjectively, it all depends on where you stand as an observer of the indie industry. In my case, everything deserves a second look.
Support is necessary. In the form of advice, or by celebrating shy efforts. As I said before, intentions can be magnetic. My comment shies away from pity. It’s more factual than an opinion. But everyone’s entitled to their own, right?
