Facets’ Chicago International Children’s Film Festival expands to the north suburbs, presenting screenings at the historic Wilmette Theatre

The Chicago International Children’s Film Festival has partnered with the Wilmette Theatre to expand screenings to the northern suburbs. During the final weekend of the Festival, from November 3 – 5, 2017, screenings will be presented at the historic Wilmette Theatre. The expansion into the northern suburbs is a milestone for the 34-year-old Festival, which now presents screenings at 7 venues that span from Hyde Park to Wilmette. The full Festival schedule and ticketing information will be available in October, 2017.

Now in its 34th year of operation, Facets’ Chicago International Children’s Film Festival gives filmmakers, families, educators, and media professionals access to the newest and most innovative children’s films. After three decades, the Festival continues to use the power of film to offer a unique look into the lives and cultures of people from around the world. The Festival runs from October 27 – November 5, 2017 at seven Chicagoland locations: Facets (Lincoln Park), Davis Theater (Lincoln Square), Music Box Theatre (Lakeview), Alliance Française (Gold Coast), Cervantes Institute (River North), U of C Logan Center (Hyde Park), and Wilmette Theatre (Wilmette).

The venue partnership with the Wilmette Theatre is a perfect fit since their mission to provide vibrant entertainment, education and enrichment for their community aligns with the Festival. Speaking about the partnership, Festival Director Ann Vikstrom said: “We are thrilled to expand our presence in the Chicago suburbs by adding a new venue in the North Shore this season. Our newest Festival venue partner is the Wilmette Theatre, which has established itself in recent years under the leadership of Executive Director, Wendy Sharon, will offer the best in independent cinema for an educated audience.”

She went on to say, “We are pleased to collaborate and present at this historic landmark movie theater that now has state-of-the-art cinematic technical capacity. We look forward to welcoming children and teens of all ages to our newest Festival home.”

Facets’ Chicago International Children’s Film Festival expands to the north suburbs and will present screenings at the historic Wilmette Theatre from November 3-5, 2017. The Wilmette Theatre is located at 1122 Central Ave, Wilmette IL, 60091. Full Festival schedule and individual tickets will be available in October, 2017.
