Emily Blunt Looking For A Spoon Full of Sugar in Mary Poppins Sequel

Disney are planning on Mary Poppins to return to the big screen and are in talks with Emily Blunt to play the title role.
The sequel is to be set twenty years after the original in depression-era London. The movie could look to borrow ideas from Mary Poppins books written by PL Travers, who wrote eight Mary Poppins books, so source material is not in short supply.

Blunt, who is still in talks at this stage, looks set to reunite with Rob Marshall, who is in charge of the Disney project. Marshall and Blunt worked together previously on the musical Into The Woods. Marshall has also worked on Chicago and Nine so is certainly no stranger to musicals.
The musical numbers will be written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, who worked on Hairspray.
