The Disappointments Room Summary & Review

As readers of my site already know, I am a sucker for a good horror movie. That is why I wanted to check out The Disappointments Room, a new horror movie that has had a really weird ad campaign. I had known about this movie for sometime, but the date had been changed due to financial problems. Then the first trailer wasn’t released until two weeks before the movie came out. From there it was just one commercial after another for the next two weeks. So what did I think of this horror film?
The Disappointments Room follows a family who has moved out to the country for a new life. As they settle in, Dana (Kate Beckinsale) discovers a room in the attic, then soon becomes obsessed to open it and see what’s inside. When she finally unlocks the door, she unleashes supernatural forces that start to mess with her reality and question what is and isn’t real.
Let me start by saying this is the most accurately titled movie I have ever seen. The story was terrible, the acting was terrible, the dialogue was laughable and awkward, and the conclusion was not at all satisfying. Everything about this movie had no effort put into it. I kept sitting in my seat complaining about all the terrible things that were happening. This movie is one of the worst horror movies I have ever seen.
There were a few good scares here and there, but nothing else. There were so many points in the film where Beckinsale was hallucinating that it jgot tiresome. I felt like they were just torturing her or she was extremely stupid not to realize that it wasn’t real. Either way, it was very poorly done.
In the end, this was one horrible movie. I wanted to have fun and see a movie that seemed like it had potential. This movie is nothing more than a rehash filled with forgettable characters, awkward dialogue, and a story that makes no sense at all. I know I love horror movies, but that doesn’t mean they’re all good. This is definitely one of the bad ones.

This movie was nothing like I had expected! I guess I should have taken the hint when it was in theaters for only one week! I could have written a way better story than this! I was expecting something new and scary but this movie was not the least bit scary, how can this be categorized as a horror movie? The dead cat? The movie was very unoriginal with so many horror cliches, bad acting, a displeasing ending and after, I forgot what I watched!! I’m glad I only paid $4 to rent it opposed to $12 to see it in theaters! The movie had some potential, but the movie was very boring, again unoriginal, and there was things left unanswered. Like why was that old lady from the records trying to call them? They seriously just got up and left, end of story? Was it all in her head? Did I miss the climax of the story? Was the supposed to be scary? I thought the movie was a blah drama…..
