Deadpool Breaks Records

Deadpool has managed to become the highest grossing movie of 2016 in its first weekend.
Over the four-day holiday weekend Deadpool managed to bring in $150 million, double what it was projected to bring in wiping the floor with the competition, namely Zoolander no. 2 and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. This will no doubt signal a sequel which has already been , with talks already in the works and speculation over who will be playing Cable.
In becoming the best R-rated opening weekend it has had to beat The Matrix Reloaded, which previously held the record with an opening weekend of $91.7 million.
Deadpool has breathed new life into the R-Rated superhero genre which has previously been home to the likes of Kick-Ass and Watchmen. Superhero movies tend to favor the PG-13 rating as their target audience.

What makes this movie so good is how well Ryan Reynolds fits into the character of Deadpool. Just like Robert Downey Jr is Iron man and Johnny Depp is Captain Jack Sparrow, Ryan Reynolds IS Deadpool. He fits the character so well, and rightly so, this movie has been his pet project for the last six years, going as far as to helping the writers with the movie.
Lets hope this franchise doesn’t slow down any time soon, as this seems to be a winning formula. Also worth noting is if, or when, will Deadpool crossover with an X-Men movie? Obviously their is the foundation of a strong connection between Deadpool and the group of mutants, so will this grow over time? Can we expect Deadpool to show up in an X-Men movie any time soon? Questions only time will answer.
If you have not seen Deadpool yet then we highly recommend it. You can even watch the trailer here.
