Calgary International Film Festival Shows Its International Flavor
Check out this pie chart that breaks down the international flavor of this year’s Short Film entries. The chart shows the mixture of countries that have entered this year’s festival. What this might not represent are several of the films in the festival that say, represent a country but were not officially produced there – The Pearl of Africa comes to mind as a good example, its a Swedish production but features Uganda prominently.
Total numbers account for co-produtions = so if a films was a French/Canada co-production the same title would be counted toward the total number of films for each country
For all films, including features, we have 41 countries represented in the festival this year (last year 39). This is consistent with our long term average in recent years, which has always hovered close to 40 since 2012.
For everyone interested in statistics this is a fascinating insight into how far and wide short films and film festival entries come from.
