Every line of dialogue and piece of action first appeared on the blank page of a screenwriter. But how do you create a visual story that is original, thought-provoking and emotionally captivating?
Award-winning screenwriter Louise Ironside has worked on several popular television series over the years including Call the Midwife, The Tunnel, Law & Order UK, Lip Service, Waterloo Road and River City.
In addition to her impressive television CV, she has served tenures as both Associate Playwright and Playwright in residence at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh. She has also written original radio drama for Radios 3, 4 & 5 in slots including Writing The Century, Women’s Hour, From Fact to Fiction and The Wire.
If you want advice on creating and developing on-screen characters, writing for different genres and mediums and tips on what makes a script sell, this Career Close-Up session is for you. This event is part of the Career Close-Up programme supported by Skills Development Scotland.
This initiative specifically supports career starters who have graduated from a screen or broadcast related course who are still looking for a break in the industry. Sessions are open to a maximum of 20 participants, full eligibility guidelines and application forms can be found here.
