A MORAL MAN TRAILER
Written and directed by Paul and Simon Wade, and starring Toby Jones and Claudie Blakley, A MORAL MAN is a 12 minute drama about Philip, a man who believes he has been put on Earth to look after people who are suffering by helping them to end their own lives, so that they can be with God.
Philip is not the kind of person you would expect to be involved in this kind of thing because he is a vicar, gregarious, deeply religious, a good man. This film is about the moment when his faith and moral purpose are challenged for the first time, when he meets Helen and she reveals to him that she is not terminally ill and, in fact, she lied to him about the reason she wanted to end her life.
Paul and Simon Wade have made several gripping, funny and affecting short films already, with great performances from their actors. They have many more stories to tell as their careers develop, and we believe they and this film will be talked about in years to come. Toby Jones believes this too, which is why he has attached to be in the film and play the part of Philip, the Moral Man of the title.
This is a provocative, character-driven story by two talented writer-directors which will be a remarkable short-film. The world of short films is rich and varied and the best of them are innovative, daring and moving. Short films have a life on the film festival circuit where they are seen and celebrated by film enthusiasts all over the world; some short films win awards; some are shown on TV or streaming platforms. All directors who make a career in film start with making shorts and some of these films are extraordinary. We believe this will be one of those.
