India’s First ever horror film festival offers a unique platform to all filmmakers from all over the world to showcase there talent in a country where horror genre is loved!
It was in the year 1949 when a noted film maker Kamal Amrohi went ahead and introduced the First Horror Film which the Indian Audience had ever experienced. It Was “Mahal”, which had an enormous success hitting tremendous collection at the box office.
The madness of horror films did not came to an end here. Hemant Kumar made a film “Bees Saal Baad” in the year 1962 which topped in the box office chart and was a superhit followed by the other hit films “Gumnaam” and “Bhoot Bangla”.
In the year 1970 the family laying the foundation of horror films who are also called legendary film makers “Ramsay Brothers” created the niche of their own in this genre. They had made about 20 films, and most of them were proved great success on box office
Today horror films have their own audience The genre is still alive by the film makers like like Ramgopal Verma, Mahesh Bhatt , Vikram Bhatt where the famous filmmakers like Ramgopal Verma, Mahesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt and some other studios has kept the genre still alive.
