Wow…..Just wow. I don’t think any other Spider-Man movie made me more happy than this one. This movie was amazing (sad trombone)! I don’t think anyone else is gonna agree with me on this, and I don’t expect them to, but I think hands down this is my favorite Spider-man movie ever.
I have to admit, it’s not a perfect movie. While the villain (or villains) in this are significantly better than the Lizard from the first movie, they’re still only ok. Dane Dehaan and Jamie Fox are really good in this though. Both of them give really creepy performances, and both have some really standout moments. In particular, that moment in the prison where Electro tells them his name. I just really felt like that was a freaky and awsome moment. There are plenty more moments like that littered in the movie. Rhino rarely shows his face in the movie (literally, he’s only at the beginning and end) but it’s not really a big deal.
Small nit picks and other things like that abound, but I never got annoyed by them. Character and acting are probably this movies strongest point. We see Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy’s relationship get pushed to the breaking point, and yet it still feels like a really solid and realistic relationship. Speaking of which, we see yet again how awesome Gwen Stacy really is. She’s not content with staying put and doing nothing, she really helps and is portrayed greatly by Emma Stone once again. But it’s Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spidey who steals the show. I freaking love this guy as Spider-man. He’s awesome, he’s funny, and we really see him care for the citizens of New York. We see Peter’s world really start to crash down around him, and it’s kind of hard for me not to feel for the guy.
Did I mention the action is amazing (more sad trombone)? Well it is. The movie really shows us what Spider-man is capable of, and watching him pretty much take on anything and everything is as fun as heck. I don’t think I really mention this enough in my reviews, but music is great too.
As I’ve said, I had a lot of fun with this movie. It soured above my expectations and made my day. It’s the most fun I’ve had with a Spider-man movie, and I have no regrets about saying that it is my favorite, or at least on par with the original movies.
The Media Fire gives this movie 8.9/10
