I Don’t Need Your Drama While Watching a Drama Movie

The little lady and I went and watched HER over the weekend. The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson, and is directed by Spike Jonze. It’s a look at how relationships happen and evolve, and takes a look out human interaction with their technology.

This is very fitting. The wife and I were eager to watch this new movie release directed by Spike Jonze. And we waited in line for awhile to get our tickets and get seated. For some reason, we have the worst of luck. Why do the nuttiest people have to sit next to me?

Not only was this guy nutty, but so was his girlfriend. And I know this because I could hear her talking on his cellphone. Yep. That’s right, he was talking on his cellphone during the movie. Now this movie is about a character who falls in love with operating system (voiced by Scarlett Johansson), and he carries HER around in his “smartphone” for a lack of a better word.

Here I am, listing to this yahoo discuss dinner plans with his girlfriend when the show ends. I don’t know why he picked this movie to go to alone. Maybe he wanted some pointers on how to handle a relationship. After listening to them talk about a steakhouse for about ten minutes, I was ready to turn him into a piece of steak. I kid you not, she said she didn’t want to go to this one place because the “steak was not tender enough.”

Needless to say, I was not the only one wanted to see this new movie release. The couple sitting behind us must have gone and told the manager. Nothing is more threatening than an eighteen year old manager-in-training wearing a mesh hat and a flashlight. It did the trick.

Funny part of all of this? The guy on his cellphone looked at me and rolled his eyes after getting busted. Really? He thought having a convo about “tender steak” during a drama movie was appropriate? What do they talk about during action movies?

Anyhoo, that is my Monday Movie Rant.
