Ilya Rozhkov

Ilya Rozhkov’s Sabre Dance to launch across multiple platforms via AFL Productions starting March 2016

(LOS ANGELES) – March 14, 2016 – At the young age of 23, award winning director, Ilya Rozhkov, known for his “Wes Anderson-esque” breakout festival hit Sabre Dance, has just signed a three picture deal with AFL Productions, the independent global development and distribution company. AFL will start with a launch of Sabre Dance on Amazon on March 31, 2016. There will be a Los Angeles Premiere/Showcase on March 29th at the iPic Luxury Theaters in Westwood.

His next film, Dying to Live will world premiere at the Manhattan Film Festival April 13 – 24, 2016 and is also slated to be a part of Cannes Film Festival’s Short Film Corner in May 2016.

“Amazon is one of the great frontiers in the millennia we live in. I am excited to share the story of Aram Khachatourian and Salvador Dali with the world audience and very grateful for AFL believing enough in my talents to landmark my first distribution deal and hope for continued successful collaboration in the future,” says Ilya Rozhkov.

The deal for the young Russian talent will include an immediate multiplatform release of the festival favorite Sabre Dance starring Greg Louganis as Salvador Dali. The short film which won awards for Best Film and Best Directing and Best Performances, tells the story of perfectionist composer Aram Khachaturian (Armen Babasoloukian), who after his concert tour in Spain, anticipates a meeting with surrealist painter Salvador Dali. The film which was an official selection at more than 20 festivals worldwide, will be released on Amazon and then roll out to iTunes, YouTube and other platforms to be announced at a later date.

“We pride ourselves in bringing to market a fresh and creative young generation of directing talent to showcase great artistic minds in the genres of drama and comedy. We see their potential realization and name recognition on modern day platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and YouTube,” said Yuri Volodarsky, Head of Development and Distribution of AFL Productions, which specializes in universally accessible programming across a wide spectrum of broadcast, cable, satellite, IPTV, mobile and home entertainment genres.

Colton), who teaches him that there is no time like the present to live his dreams.

AFL will also release his first film We Are Enemies, which originally premiered at the 2014 Phoenix Film Festival and played at more than a dozen film festivals. The film received multiple awards including “Best of the Fest” at the 54th Rochester Film Festival.

Ilya Rozhkov is an award-winning director, born and raised in Moscow, Russia and started directing theater at a young age. In 2011 he was accepted into the International University in Moscow.
